St Patrick’s Athletic have lost their appeal against a 15-point deduction for fielding an unregistered player which effectively means that Shelbourne are the eircom League champions. St Pat's received notification this morning that the FAI Appeal Board decided to uphold the decision of the Officers of the League in deducting the points after it was found that Charles Mbabazi Livingstone was not properly registered for the first five games of the season.
St Pat's say they will now decide on their next course of action but the League may now be set to investigate all registrations and the matter may not be over yet. In its statement today, the appeal board say they are aware that the League proposes to carry out a full investigation into all players' registrations for the current season.
If it is found that players had played in any league matches in contravention of the rules then that rule will be applied in full.
