St Pat's appeal to be heard today

St Patrick's Athletic's appeal hearing against the 15 points deduction over the Patrick Mbabazi registration controversy will be heard today at FAI headquarters in Dublin at 3.30pm. If their appeal is successful and the 15 point deduction is reversed then the Inchicore club will be crowned eircom League Premier Division champions. However, if the appeal fails then Shelbourne will claim the trophy.

The League deducted the Inchicore club 15 points when it learned that Charles Mbabazi Livingston had been incorrectly registered at the start of the season. That followed an earlier decision by the League to return nine points that had been deducted for playing another unregistered player, Paul Marney, in the opening three games. Both clubs involved refused to decide the destination of this year's title with a play-off.

Latest:It is unlikely that any judgement will be handed down before tomorrow morning.
