Arsene Wenger has put on a brave face following Arsenal’s exit from the Champions League claiming his players will now have an advantage over Liverpool and Manchester United in the title race. Arsenal crashed out of the competition last night going down 1-0 to Juventus in Turin but Wenger suggested that the exit may help their title bid.
He said, “We are mentally strong. We have shown that before and we will respond again in our FA Cup tie. We could have an advantage over Manchester United and Liverpool if we respond well. Then it will help us physically.”
He also went on to quash the persistent rumours surrounding Patrick Viera’s Highbury future saying, “Our biggest problem at the moment is refusing players who want to join us rather than keeping the ones we have. We have a great spirit in the club and the players want to be part of that. We've had many offers from big players who want to join us.”
Viera was also quick to dismiss the claims saying, “I am with the club until my contract is over, so I'm just going to do my time until the end of the season. I will try to do my best and try to win the Premier League and the FA Cup, and I will come back next season. You want me to leave, or what? People will talk. People say what they want to say. My relationship with the club and the boss is fantastic, so that is not in my mind, and I told you before what is going to happen. I have two years left on my contract and that's it. In my mind, everything is clear.”
