Wanderers safe from relegation

Bray Wanderers secured their Premier Division status for next season with a 3-0 away win at Monaghan United tonight. Eddie Gormley opened the scoring on four minutes and added a second on 69 minutes before Jason Byrne topped off the night with a third goal on 77 minutes. Bray cannot now be relegated this season and currently lie seventh in the table.

Meanwhile, there were more shocks in the eircom First Division this evening as Dublin City lost at home - their three promotion rivals all recorded wins this weekend - which now leaves them third in the league and only above Waterford United on goal difference. City went down 2-1 at Whitehall to Cobh Ramblers. Cobh took the lead on 44 minutes through Willie Bruton but City equalised in the second-half through Graham Doyle. However, with three minutes to go Donal Golden snatched victory for the visitors.

Drogheda United recorded a rare away victory against Kilkenny City at Buckley Park tonight. The Louth side went ahead through Gary Cronin on 52 minutes but Kilkenny pulled one back from the penalty spot when Ger Robinson converted. Drogheda left it late but they stole all three points in injury time when Mark Quinless made it 2-1.
