A special internal committee is to be set up to investigate FIFA's finances following allegations of mismanagement. The decision was taken after an emergency meeting of the world governing body's executive committee in Zurich last night. It comes after reports which claimed supporters of president Sepp Blatter paid bribes before his 1998 election and following questions over the collapse of FIFA's former marketing partners ISL.
FIFA general secretary Michel Zen-Ruffinen said: "After a very long meeting the FIFA executive committee have decided to create an internal ad-hoc audit committee."
Full details about the committee will be given on the occasion of the press conference on Saturday morning.
