Aston Villa midfielder George Boateng says he will see out the remaining 15 months of his current contract at Villa Park – and added that he's happy at Villa and would be prepared to stay even though he has yet to be offered a new deal.
"I will deal with the contract when I have to but I tend not to think that far ahead. My Christian faith says I am here today and I have to make the best of it. There is nothing to guarantee that I will be here tomorrow. You can plan six months down the line but you don't know what's going to happen.
"I am happy at Villa. When I made my debut for Holland the papers the next day were saying that other teams wanted to sign me but that's not important to me. I want to play well for Villa. So far a new contract is not there for me so I will concentrate on my game. I signed a contract for Villa knowing I am going to serve it," said the Dutchman.
Boateng made his debut for Holland in last month's friendly with England in Amsterdam.
