Leeds show their support for Kidd

Leeds' underachieving team finally got back to winning ways last night and dedicated their win to under-fire coach Brian Kidd. The former Manchester United assistant manager had been the target for abuse from travelling supporters during Leeds 0-0 draw with Everton last Sunday, but last night's 2-0 victory over Ipswich finally put a smile back on faces at Elland Road, after the team had previously gone 10 games without a win.

Goals from Robbie Fowler and Republic of Ireland defender Ian Harte were enough to kill of George Burley's Ipswich side, and afterwards Leeds manager David O'Leary praised his players for both the performance, and the pitch-side party they held afterwards to show their solidarity with Kidd.

"I didn't know they were going to do that, but I was pleased they did. Because they had spoken so well about Brian before the game, I told them it was now about actions and to go out and do it for him. You could see in their celebrations just how much he means to them. I told them how delighted Brian was for that, even though I know he wouldn't have wanted it. So I was pleased we got a result, pleased for the players and pleased for Brian Kidd, who I know is delighted with this," said O'Leary.
