Limerick FC thrilled their fans earlier today when they defeated Shamrock Rovers to reach the final of the Eircom League Cup. The First Division Club won 1-0 but it could have been even more for they missed three gilt-edged chances in the closing stages, while Rovers rarely troubled the Limerick goal.
The decisive score came in the 75th minute when a cross from the right left the Rovers defence flat-footed and Brian Donlon duly hammered a half-volley into the net at the back post.
Limerick will now play Derry City in the final.
