Southampton manager Gordon Strachan has called for a winter break to be introduced to the Premiership season. Strachan sees his side return to action after a two-week break tomorrow but he believes a winter-break would seriously reduce the risk of player burn-out and would ease fixture congestion.
"We've had a break, and this can sometimes work for you and sometimes against you. But I would like to see a winter break introduced and have thought that for a while, because I don't think there's anything wrong with summer football," he said.
The former Coventry boss will be hoping to extend his recent run of fortune with Southampton when they take on Bolton tomorrow, after he won the Barclaycard manager of the month award for January.
