Liverpool skipper Sami Hyypia refused to concede his side's Champions League chances were hanging by a thread after the frustrating goalless draw with Galatasaray at Anfield on Wednesday night. Hyypia hit the post with a header, while Emile Heskey sent another effort against the bar as Liverpool pummelled the Turkish giants, but still could not claim the crucial win needed to put themselves in the driving seat in the race for a quarter-final slot.
Now Liverpool's next match is on Tuesday in Istanbul, where they must brave the cauldron of the Ali Sami Yen Stadium if they are to progress in this competition. Hyypia insisted: "Of course we have a good chance in Istanbul next week. That's because Galatasaray didn't make hardly any chances in this match and they will know all about how well we play away from home. In fact, sometimes we play better in away matches and we all feel we have a good chance in next week's match."
Liverpool will need all the away-day expertise which carried them to glory in last season's UEFA Cup if they are to shock the Turkish club on their own ground, where Chelsea are the only English side to have won a European match in one of the most intimidating arenas in Europe.
