Wright pledges future to Liverpool

Liverpool's England Under-21 international Stephen Wright has followed the example set by Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Dietmar Hamann by pledging his future to the club. The versatile 22-year-old ended recent speculation linking him with a summer move away from Anfield by signing a new three-year contract today.

Wright's current contract expires this summer and he would have been free to leave the club under the Bosman ruling. A graduate of the Liverpool Youth Academy, he has made a big impression since breaking into the team this year and has nine first team appearances to his credit, mostly in his preferred position, right-back.
