Healy to remain on loan at Coventry

Colin Healy's World Cup hopes have been given a massive boost with the news that Martin O'Neill has allowed his loan spell with Coventry continue until the end of the season. Healy has played himself into contention for a World Cup place in recent months with some very impressive performances for promotion chasing Coventry.

His loan spell was almost up however, which would have meant a return to reserve team football with Celtic, meaning his chances of a World Cup place would have been seriously damaged. He can now continue to play with Coventry and remain very much in Mick McCarthy's thoughts. Martin O'Neill has admitted that it will be far more beneficial to his career than a return to Celtic's reserves.

McCarthy said: "I'm delighted that Colin is staying with Coventry because he seems to be guaranteed first team football, he's thriving at Coventry and that showed against the Russians but he needs further exposure to first team action to make progress."
