Newcastle striker Craig Bellamy will face a club disciplinary action over an alleged assault involving a female student in the early hours of last Tuesday. Today club chairman Freddy Shepherd revealed the club had carried out their own investigation into the incident and found Bellamy had committed a serious breach of club rules.
“Newcastle have now completed their investigation into the incident which occurred on the Newcastle Quayside in the early hours of Tuesday, February 5 involving four of its players. The investigation has concluded that Craig Bellamy has committed a serious breach of the club’s behavioural code and he will be subject to internal disciplinary action.
“It is inappropriate to comment further upon the extent of the disciplinary action until this has been communicated to the player personally, and this cannot take place until he returns from international duty at the end of this week,” a statement from the St James’ Park club reads.
Bellamy, who is on international duty with Wales, was cautioned by police after last week’s incident.
