Republic of Ireland captain Roy Keane was presented with the FAI eircom Senior Player of the Year award at a ceremony in the CityWest Hotel, Dublin tonight. It is the second time Keane, who beat off competition from Steve Staunton and Shay Given, has won the award.

Blackburn's Damien Duff won the Young Player award, Millwall's Steven Reid scooped the Under-21 award, while Bohemians’ Glen Crowe won the eircom League Player of the Year prize. Former Dundalk, Shamrock Rovers and Derry City manager Jim McLaughlin won the Special Merit award, while former Republic of Ireland manager Jack Charlton won Personality of the Year.
