Wolves go joint top of Division One

Wolves have joined Manchester City at the top of the Nationwide First Division after an impressive 2-0 away win at Crystal Palace. Goals in either half from Dean Sturridge and Shaun Newton secured all three points for Wolves as they now move second behind Kevin Keegan's City team on goal difference.

The visitors went ahead after 13 minutes when former Palace player Kevin Muscat took a quick throw-in on the right sideline and found Sturridge who had just enough room to turn and fire a 25-yard effort past Alex Kolinko for his 11th goal of the season.

Wolves began the second half in a similar vein and were rewarded for their superiority on 65 minutes when Nathan Blake supplied Newton with a great cross and he let fly with a left-footed shot from 15 yards out which found the back of the net.

Ade Akinbiyi made his debut for Palace in tonight's clash after his move earlier this week from Leicester City. However, the £2.3m signing had a poor game against one of his former clubs.
