The bans imposed on Holland’s Jaap Stam and Spain’s Pep Guardiola by the Italian FA after they tested positive for nandrolone have been extended worldwide by FIFA. Last month Lazio defender Stam and Brescia midfielder Guardiola were banned for four and five months respectively.
Guardiola says he will appeal the ban, although he admitted he was relieved not to have been banned for 12 months. Both worldwide bans have been backdated to start from November 22.
