Shelbourne have been given leave in the High Court to issue a notice of legal proceedings against the FAI over its decision to approve the restoration of nine league points to St Patrick’s Athletic.
The points were initially deducted from the Inchicore club after it allegedly fielded an unregistered player last autumn. The case is now due to come before the court on Friday.
St Pat’s are currently six points behind Eircom Premier League leaders Shelbrourne, with one game in hand.
