Manchester City overcame the ninth-minute sending-off of Ali Benarbia to beat Millwall 2-0 tonight and move six points clear at the top of the English first division. Midfielder Benarbia was sent off after an off-the-ball incident but City made all the running against their fellow promotion hopefuls and fully deserved the home victory secured by two late Shaun Goater goals.
City have 61 points to the 56 of Wolverhampton Wanderers, who lost 1-0 at Barnsley on Tuesday. West Bromwich are third on 54 and Millwall stay fourth on 53.
