Villa deny Angel is for sale

Aston Villa have denied increasing speculation that they are on the verge of selling the club record signing Juan Pablo Angel. Reports suggest that the Villa are looking to cash in on their £9.5million signing from River Plate and that Angel himself is unhappy at the club following the recent departure of manager John Gregory. The Colombian was recently linked with a move to Italian giants Parma but Villa insisted today that there is no possibility of Angel leaving Birmingham in the foreseeable future.

"The rumours concerning Juan Pablo Angel's future have not come from us and the club strongly refute any suggestions that he is about to be sold. With regard to the rumours that he could even be leaving by the end of the week, that is simply ludicrous," Villa secretary Steve Stride told the club's website.
