Shels want St Pat's penalty reinstated

Shelbourne's legal team have written to the FAI, requesting the clarification of a number of matters relating to the Paul Marney affair. They want St Patrick's Athletic' removed nine-point penalty to be reinstated until the matter is fully resolved. St Pat's had been deducted nine points for fielding an unregistered player, Paul Marney, but a FAI arbitration panel gave them back.

Solictors for Shelboune asked the FAI how long an appeal to FIFA would take. They also want to know the expected duration of a Law Society enquiry into the affair.

Moves by Shels secretary Ollie Byrne to raise the Paul Marney issue at last night's league meeting in Dublin were ruled out of order by eircom League chairman Michael Hyland. Shels face St Pat's in the league this Friday evening at Tolka Park.
