Shamrock Rovers have come through 4-1 winners over Monaghan United in the Carlsberg FAI Cup at Inchicore this evening. Tony Grant opened the scoring for Rovers in the 20th minute, but Stephen Murphy equalised sixteen minutes later. Billy Woods restored Rovers' lead in the 67th minute and late strikes from Tony Cousins and Woods' second secured the Hoops' path into the fourth round.
Elsewhere in the cup, Bohemians knocked out Cobh Ramblers with a 2-0 win at Dalymount. Trevor Molloy set up Glen Crowe for Bohs' first before grabbing a goal of his own after 30 minutes.
At Whitehall, Dublin City's cup hopes were ended by Bray Wanderers who won 2-0 thanks to a Jason Byrne double in the 27th and 86th minutes.
