Ginola looks set for Villa exit

John Gregory has hinted that David Ginola may have started his last game for Aston Villa. Gregory had already indicated Villa will not be looking to renew Ginola's contract and take up their 12-month option when his current deal ends in the summer. The Villa manager now says that the 35-year-old is behind Hassan Kachloul, Gareth Barry and Lee Hendrie in the pecking order. Ginola has not played in the last three matches since completing a three-match suspension for his sending-off against Leicester last month.

Gregory said: "Can I see David starting a game for us again? Probably not if I am being honest. I would never say never in David's case but it will take something exceptional to get him in. I think at the moment Kachloul, Barry and Hendrie are all fighting for the left-hand side of midfield. David came back available for the Spurs game but I don't think anyone in the 16 had done too much wrong to be left out.

"David wants to play football which is totally understandable. He still wants to play and any footballer worth his salt wants to be first choice - whether it's down a division or not," said Gregory.

Gregory confirmed Villa have received three enquiries about Ginola, including two from Nationwide League clubs, but none have come from Premiership sides. "They have wanted to get involved in some kind of part payment scheme for the rest of the season. It will be a board decision over what to accept but, if it suits all parties, I'm sure we'll be able to come to some sort of agreement," he said.
