Arsenal's Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry are among five French players named in UEFA's team of 2001. Real Madrid midfielder Zinedine Zidane, Juventus striker David Trezeguet and Bayern Munich defender Bixente Lizarazu are the other French internationals in a team which includes players from seven different countries.
England is represented by Manchester United's David Beckham and Liverpool's Michael Owen, while Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier was named as team coach. Houllier, who is currently recovering from heart surgery, received 45 percent of votes, more than twice as many as his nearest challengers, Mane of Spanish club Alaves and Inter Milan's Hector Cuper.
