Aston Villa will be happy to offer goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel another 12-month contract - if he maintains his current form. Schmeichel has made a big impression at Villa Park in the first half of the season.
Manager John Gregory, in particular, has been delighted with the contribution that the giant goalkeeper has made. “Peter has been in outstanding form this season and any doubts anyone may have had about him have been eliminated on the field. His mental capacity is as strong as ever and if he is in this shape come next March we will be looking to go into a year's option that we have on him.”
“We need to make a decision by the last Thursday in March. But he is in the same form we will want him to do another year. He is capable of doing it but both parties have to be 100% about what they want,” Gregory added. “If Peter does not want to continue then we have to listen to what he wants to do. He is not one of these guys who does anything by half.”
