The Republic of Ireland squad will move their training base in Japan prior to their second and third matches during the 2002 World Cup finals. Mick McCarthy's men will, as originally scheduled, be based in Izumo City in preparation for their first Pool E game against Cameroon on June 1.
However, the Irish will then move to Chiba City, located on the north side of Tokyo Bay, in the run up to game against Germany on June 5 in Ibaraki. The squad will remain based in Chiba City, which is the same distance from both Ibararaki and Yokohama - the latter the venue for Ireland's third game against Saudi Arabia on June 11.
