Irish to be based in Izumo

The FAI have announced that the Irish team management have selected Izumo City as their World Cup training camp base following their arrival in Japan in May. As part of the preparations, Ireland will play a warm up match against Japanese side Hiroshima on May 25.

Meanwhile, the FAI have confirmed that Nigeria will provide the opposition for Mick McCarthy's side on May 17 in Dublin – the day before the Irish team flies out to Japan. Two other friendlies in Dublin have also been confirmed for next year: Ireland will entertain Russia on February 13 and Denmark on March 27.
