Ginola charged with misconduct

Aston Villa's David Ginola has been charged with misconduct by the FA after his outburst at the fourth official following his sending off against Leicester at the weekend. The French player angrily confronted Clive Wilkes after he received his marching orders for violent conduct after kicking out at Leicester midfielder Dennis Wise.

Ginola wagged his finger at Wilkes and was then seen to tap the official on the side of his face before being lead away by manager John Gregory, coach Stuart Gray and physio Jim Walker.

Referee Steve Bennett had sent an additional report to the FA in relation to the incident, and Ginola could now see his mandatory three-match ban for the sending off doubled after being found guilty of misconduct. The French player has 14 days to respond to the charge and to decide if he wants a personal hearing.

John Gregory has already confirmed that he will be fining Ginola after describing his outburst as futile and unnecessary.
