Scotland will have two representatives in the Champions League for the 2003/2004 season following a jump in their UEFA co-efficient rating. Only this season's Scottish Premier League champions will qualify for next year's competition but official confirmation that Scotland has jumped to 13th place in the co-efficient table means they will be awarded a second qualifying place in 2003-04.
"This is great news," said SPL chief executive Roger Mitchell. "Due to the performances this year - building on steady growth in the last three or four years - we are now heading towards the top 10. If we maintain the momentum we have generated already, there is every possibility that, in following seasons, we can be looking at one automatic place in the Champions League and one qualifying round place."
