Four Newcastle United players have been sent home in shame following a breach of discipline at the club's Spanish training camp near Marbella. England international Kieron Dyer and Welsh star Craig Bellamy, along with England Under-21 internationals Andy Griffin and Carl Cort, have been disciplined for breaking club rules, although precise details of their misdemeanours have not been released.
The club have acted swiftly, fining and sending the offenders home, and there is little doubt that manager Bobby Robson will have had plenty to say to them. A club spokesman confirmed: "The four players were sent home for a breach of disciplinary rules. They have subsequently been fined and as far as the club is concerned, the matter is now closed."
