The FAI have been reassured by the Iranian Embassy that anyone travelling to Tehran on the official FAI flight for the Republic of Ireland's World Cup play-off with Iran will be granted entry visas as long as the applications are made by tomorrow. The governing body received the assurance following a meeting with officials from the Iranian Embassy earlier today.
The media from the United Arab Emirates were banned from travelling to the Asian play-off in Iran last month, but the Iranian Embassy has confirmed that this will not be the case for anyone on the official flight next Monday.
The FAI have yet to confirm how many tickets will be available to Irish supporters for the second leg next Thursday, but revealed that they will be taking tickets to Iran and will be selling them from the official hotel. The Iranian Football federation have taken up their full allocation of 3,000 tickets for the first leg at Landsdowne Road on Saturday, which means the game is a 33,000 sell-out.
