Ipswich staged a thrilling second half comeback to earn a place in the third round of the UEFA Cup with a stunning 3-1 victory over Sweden's Helsingborgs this evening. The Premiership's surprise package last season came into the game on level terms following a 0-0 draw in the first leg, but were hit by an early goal as their current Premiership form seemed certain to continue in Europe. The game was only seven minutes old when Alvaro Santos chested down on the edge of the area and Hans Eklund's drive somehow squirmed through Matteo Sereni's grasp to leave Ipswich with a mountain to climb.
However, Hermann Hreidarsson netted the all-important equaliser in the 69th minute and Marcus Stewart added two more in the final ten, his sixth and seventh goals of the season, as George Burley's men shrugged off their poor domestic form.
