Trevor Francis has left First Division promotion hopefuls Birmingham City today by mutual consent. Despite ending the Blues’ six game run without a win against Barnsley on Saturday, the pair finally decided to call it a day following weeks of speculation surrounding the former England striker’s future.
Francis joined the club in 1996 when he replaced Barry Fry, but promotion has proved elusive despite leading the club to the Division One play-offs in each of the last three seasons.
Last years beaten Worthington Cup finalists are currently 12th in the table and suffered an embarrassing 6-0 defeat to Manchester City last week in the Worthington Cup.
