Bassett takes charge of struggling Leicester

Dave Bassett has been unveiled as Leicester City's new manager with Brighton boss Micky Adams named as his assistant at Filbert Street. The former Wimbledon, Watford, Sheffield United, Nottingham Forest and Barnsley manager will succeed Peter Taylor who was sacked last week and will be anxious to steady the ship following Leicester's 6-0 trouncing, at home, to Leeds last night.

Bassett emerged as the favourite for the vacant position after their failure to lure Harry Redknapp away form Portsmouth and was brought in by Chairman John Elsom because of his impressive record with limited funds. Bassett was spotted in the Director’s box at last night's Worthington Cup-tie between Coventry and Chelsea, the London side being Leicester’s next opponents.
