Leicester fans want George Graham

George Graham has emerged as the fans' favourite to succeed Peter Taylor as manager of Leicester. The former Arsenal, Leeds and Tottenham manager polled four times as many votes than his main rival for the post, Harry Redknapp, on the Leicester fans' website.

Graham held talks with Filbert Street chairman John Elsom yesterday, and reports indicate that the club are willing to match the Scot's wage demands. However, it has also been suggested that Redknapp will find more favour with Leicester chiefs due to his successful track record in managing on a tight budget.

Apart from Graham and Redknapp, Dutchman Wim Jansen has also emerged as a possible contender for the Foxes' hotseat. Elsom has promised that the new manager will not be forced to sell players to generate transfer cash. "Obviously we want the new manager to have the strongest possible squad to work with and so it is very important that our best players stay at the club. It is only fair to the new man to give him the best possible chance of pulling us up the table and any decisions in that respect will be his when he has had the time to judge the capabilities of the squad."
