Leicester City manager, Peter Taylor, has been sacked from his post after just 15 months. Taylor was told the news by Foxes Chairman John Elsom late on Sunday evening. The move follows a loss of form in the second half of last season and a disastrous start to this campaign. The final straw was Leicester's loss to Charlton on Saturday, which left the side bottom of the Premiership.
Taylor, who had been working with the England team until the summer, took over the Leicester job after Martin O'Neill's move to Celtic. He had been under pressure from the very start of the season, when he saw his side lose 5-0 to Bolton and 4-0 to Arsenal. It marks a remarkable fall from grace for Taylor, who was appointed England's caretaker manager for one match, before Sven Goran Eriksson took over.
The news that Taylor has been sacked is sure to spark off fevered speculation as to who might replace him. George Graham, Dave Bassett and Harry Redknapp are the names likely to be in the frame. Harry Redknapp is regarded as being the strongest of the contenders, having been linked with a move to Filbert Street in the summer.
