Bohs look to reclaim top spot

Bohemians have the opportunity to reclaim top spot on the eircom Premier League table tonight when they take on Longford Town at Dalymount Park. However, the Dublin club have suffered a major blow with the news yesterday that winger Mark Rutherford is to undergo surgery this week on a troublesome knee injury and will be out of action for at least three months.

Apart from Rutherford's injury, Bohs boss Pete Mahon has a full squad to choose from for tonight's clash and also welcomes back Kevin Hunt from a three-match suspension. It is a very different scenario for Longford Town boss Stephen Kenny, who is without the services of three centre-backs - Paul Perth, Paul McNally, and Sean Riordan - although Wes Byrne did return to action at the weekend and if deemed fit enough, he could start tonight's game.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, Galway United will be hoping they can put their season back on track after winning just one of their eight matches so far this season. Tonight, they entertain a full strength Derry City at Terryland Park. Galway could start new signing Mark Herrick, who recently joined from Cork City. Alan Murphy and Eddie Hickey are both doubtful for the home side.

There are two other eircom Premier League matches on tonight with UCD taking on Cork City at Belfield while bottom club Monaghan United and Bray Wanderers meet for the first time in the Premier League. All matches kick off at 7:30pm this evening.
