Goals in the last five minutes by Paul Ince and Jonathan Greening gave Middlesbrough a 2-1 comeback victory over Leicester City in a scrappy premier league clash at Filbert Street tonight. Leicester led through Matthew Jones's ninth-minute goal but looked more and more nervous as the game progressed and were eventually punished for some untidy defending.
Middlesbrough, who lost their first four league games of the season, have now won two in a row following their 2-0 home victory over West Ham United on Saturday. They now have six points and move up to 11th while Leicester, who also won for the first time on Saturday, 3-2 at Derby County, dropped to 18th on four points.
Jones opened the scoring, nipping in quickly after Middlesbrough goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer failed to hold Callum Davidson's speculative 35-metre shot. Jones, a 21-year-old Welsh international, looped a shot over the bar late in the first half but was substituted at halftime after having 16 stitches in a head wound.
Middlesbrough continued to look the more purposeful side and got their reward in the 85th minute when Leicester failed to clear a loose ball and Ince pounced to lash in the equaliser. Deane then clipped the post again with a shot on the turn before Greening punished a poor Davidson clearance by firing in the winner two minutes from time.
