Bohemians regained top spot in the eircom Premier Division with a comprehensive 3-0 win over newly promoted Monaghan United at Dalymount Park this evening. The Gypsies got off to a dream start when goals from Fergal Harkin and Glenn Crowe had them two goals in front after just 14 minutes. Dave Morrison grabbed the all important third during a tighter second-half, and the three points puts Bohs two points clear of Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers. Monaghan remain rooted to the foot of the table with a solitary point to show from their opening six games.
St Patrick's Athletic returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Bray Wanderers at Richmond Park, Paul Osam and Mdabazi Livingston getting the goals just before the whistles in either half. Longford Town drew 2-2 at home to Dundalk despite being reduced to ten men for the entire second-half. Eric Lavine put the home side in front after 11 minutes, but Jonathan Prizeman levelled the contest ten minutes later. Keith O'Connor was shown the red card two minutes before the break, but another Lavine strike on 76 put Town in the driving seat again. However, a late equaliser from Anto Reilly gave Dundalk a share of the spoils.
In the First Division, draws were the order of the day, with leaders Drogheda holding Dublin City to a 1-1 draw at Whitehall.
