Peter Taylor can breathe a little easier this morning, after his Leicester City side beat Blackpool 1-0 in the Worthington Cup. Taylor has been under increasing pressure in recent weeks as the Foxes slumped to a terrible start in the opening weeks of the new season. But last night's victory has eased the spectre of Taylor becoming The Premiership's first managerial casualty.
Taylor said: "Any win is a good win at the minute because our confidence has been so low – so I'm delighted with the goal and the win."
The victory was secured after 21 minutes with a goal from Ade Akinbiyi, who repaid some of the faith his manager has shown in him. Despite a plucky Blackpool comeback, the Foxes held on to secure their first win of the season.
