Liverpool have opened transfer talks with Feyenoord about signing Polish keeper Jerzy Dudek. Gerard Houllier hopes to complete the signing before Friday's Champions League registration deadline. Feyenoord have so far refused to lower their £6.7m evaluation for the 28-year-old. Dudek, who needs a work permit, is currently away on World Cup duty with Poland ahead of their qualifier against Norway on Saturday.
Houllier has refused to condemn goalkeeper Sander Westerveld's late blunder which handed victory to Bolton on Monday evening, but admits that he is concerned about the way they are shipping goals - seven in the last five games. "I don't think he deserved to be criticised in public by me. That's not my philosophy. I am concerned about Sander's mistake at Bolton because I know he can do better than that. At the same time I must say he has saved us a few times already and he will probably save us again in the future," said the Liverpool manager.
