Paul Doolin is poised to replace Martin Moran as manager of UCD following Thursday's Premier Division clash with St Patrick's Athletic at Belfield. Moran has been in charge of team affairs at UCD since the death of Dr Tony O'Neill two years ago, but has recently been struggling to juggle his role as UCD manager and his career as a solicitor.
It is believed that Moran reached his decision to step down before last Friday's embarrassing 6-0 drubbing by eircom League champions Bohemians, but wanted to remain in charge until a suitable replacement was found.
Veteran midfielder Doolin, signed from Dublin rivals Shelbourne during the summer, is expected to step into the breach following Thursday's game with Pat's. The Dubliner is currently Moran's assistant but will continue as a player, while current club secretary, Brendan Dillon, will become General Manager with responsibility for administrative affairs and off the field duties.
