Rangers get off the mark at home

Rangers recorded their first home win of the Scottish Premier League season but the 2-0 defeat of Dundee was marred by two sendings off.

Home winger Neil McCann was the first to be shown a straight red card by referee John Rowbotham, a fate soon matched by Beto Carranza for an idiotic kick at Fernando Ricksen, whose goal had clinched the points for Rangers, after Michael Mols had given them a first half lead.

Meanwhile, Kilmarnock chalked up their first away win of the season with an impressive 2-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice. Paul di Giacomo gave the visitors the lead after 13 minutes when he slotted home from close range after good work by Jamie Fowler. The visitors doubled the lead after 63 minutes when first-half substitute Andy McLaren headed a Garry Hay cross in from six yards to seal a convincing victory.
