Eadie ruled out for the season

Leicester striker Darren Eadie has been ruled out of action for the entire season after suffering the recurrence of a knee injury. Eadie has been informed by specialists that he must undergo another operation on the injury that will keep him out of the game for up to a year. The 26-year-old missed the end of last season with the same injury but an operation was expected to have fixed the problem.

However, he broke down in pre-season training and received the long-term verdict today. "This is obviously a major blow both for Darren and the club," admitted manager Peter Taylor, who saw his side lose 5-0 to Premiership newcomers Bolton Wanderers on the opening day of the season. "Darren has been told that he really has no option but to have the operation. We have to face up to the fact we'll be without him for the season but we wish him all the best in his recovery," he added.
