Bobby Petta is the only doubtful starter ahead of Celtic's crunch Champions League third qualifying round clash with Ajax in Amsterdam. Petta is suffering from a slight leg strain but manager Martin O'Neill has said he will be given every chance to shake off the injury before the game.
"He's improving and we'll see how he is at the last possible minute," explained O'Neill. "It's not his hamstring, it's just behind the knee and it's still a wee bit sore, but he's feeling better." If Petta does not recover in time for the match against Ajax, new signing Steve Guppy could make his debut for the club.
Meanwhile, O'Neill has accused Ajax boss Co Adriaanse of playing mind games ahead of tomorrow's vital match. The Dutchman has added some fire to the encounter by making disparaging remarks about the physical nature of Celtic's game and about new signing John Hartson. However, O'Neill retorted by suggesting Ajax are no strangers to tough battles. "I have never known an Ajax side not to look after themselves. I played against Ajax in the semi-final of the European Cup and I can tell you that they looked after themselves all right," he said.
