The English Football Association have announced an unprecedented prize fund for the FA Cup in the coming season.
The FA have set up a £30 million package with the overall winners set to receive £2 million.
This will be the first season in which clubs will receive prize money in the competition, with the cash fund being distributed to those winning matches as well as those appearing on television.
The prize money will mean that each club that wins a tie at every stage of the competition will collect a set prize.
According to FA Chief Executive Adam Crozier, the new measures will ensure that the FA Cup is used to redistribute money across every level of the game.
“It means that the entire game gets a chance to share in the revenue generated by the world's most famous domestic cup competition,” he said.
