Fulham have issued a statement today denying they have made a bid for German international striker Oliver Bierhoff. The First Division champions had been widely linked to the 33-year-old AC Milan star - who scored the golden goal in his country's Euro 96 final win over the Czech Republic - but Fulham deny an offer has been made.
A club statement said: "Further to reports in various newspapers today, the club would like to state that no offer has been made for the purchase of Oliver Bierhoff. It is not normally club policy to comment on assertions made in the press, but we feel that in this instance it is appropriate to clarify the club's position."
