Premiership future for Celtic or Rangers dismissed

The prospect of Celtic or Rangers being allowed to join the Premiership has been dismissed. Celtic majority shareholder Dermot Desmond had claimed talks were already underway for the Old Firm to leave the Scottish Premier League.

But his words received no encouragement from Premiership spokesman Philip French who dismissed the idea. Extending the league to 22 teams set-up would also incur the disapproval of UEFA and FIFA who want fewer teams in the top leagues.
