Toulouse defender Bobo Balde is set to become Celtic's first summer signing after pledging his future to the Parkhead club. Balde responded positively to the weekend deadline set by manager Martin O'Neill, and has rejected approaches from Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen. Some details of the deal still need to be thrashed out today, and Balde is still waiting for O'Neill to call him to Glasgow.

"I am ready to fly to Glasgow as soon as I get the call - and this time to sign my contract with Celtic.

"Martin O'Neill convinced me to come to Scotland and I accepted his offer - with a counter-proposition," said the 25-year-old.

The £2.5m move has been complicated by the fact that his wife is about to give birth in France and his mother is ill back in his African homeland. The promise of Champions League football should be enough for O'Neill to sign the player on a five-year deal.
