Davids suspended from Serie A

Juventus midfielder Edgar Davids, who has tested positive for nandrolone, has been suspended indefinitely by the disciplinary committee of the Italian Football Association (FIGC). The Dutch interntational tested positive for the banned substance following a Serie A match for his club against Udinese on March 4. Yesterday, it was revealed that his B-sample also showed traces of the substance, although the player has always insisted he has never used any kind of illegal substance.

The suspension is indefinite and will run until a decision is made on whether or not Davids should be banned. Any ban that is imposed is likely to be for 16 months. However, it is still uncertain whether the Dutch Football Federation or FIFA will follow suit ahead of Holland's World Cup qualifier against Estonia in June. Davids is expected to hold a press conference later today.
