Juventus and Holland midfielder Edgar Davids has given a second positive test for banned anabolic steroids. A statement from the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) revealed today that a second sample taken from Davids following the Serie A match between Juventus and Udinese on March 4 confirmed the results of the earlier test and an inquiry will now be launched into the incident.
According to CONI, the Dutch star tested positive for both norandrosterone and noretiocolanolone. In previous cases of this nature a player has been suspended pending resolution of the matter. Davids, who has denied taking any banned substance, could now face being banned for Holland's remaining World Cup qualifiers.
